its sad but i can almost understand them closing the trails... both times ive been there there have been beer cans and trash all over the place... people are stupid, and dont realize that what they leave is ammo for the tree huggers...

on a side note, im a bit of a tree hugger myself, just one that loves to offroad

Figured I'd make a chart for everyone to compare mphs and rpms w/ different gearing from the guys that have posted thus far.

I took Ric's #'s from the UY thread when we were discussing this issue a month or so back. 111db, I'll update this when you confirm you mphs with your gps.

As of now, I myself only have numbers from when I had my stock 31's on. I need to get updated numbers since I have installed new 32" Nittos and larger rims.

Ric
'99 4Runner 3.4L Auto 4WD

33" Firestone Dest MTs/LC Wheels 16x8/4.88 Gears:

60mph = 2200rpms
65mph = 2400rpms
70mph = 2600rpms
111db
'97 4Runner 3.4L Auto 4WD

33" (285) BFGs/OEM Wheels 16x7/4.88 Gears:

(Updated w/ GPS)
60.0mph = 2250rpm
70.5mph = 2600rpm
76.5mph = 2800rpm
RunnerUp
'02 4Runner 3.4L Auto 4WD

33" Nitto TGs/OEM Wheels 16x7/4.56 Gears:

60mph = 2000rpms
70mph = 2350rpms
80mph = 2750rpms
Rock Slide

31" Dunlops/OEM Wheels 16x7/4.10 Gears:

70mph = 2150rpms
75mph = 2350rpms
80mph = 2550rpms
stormin94
'94 4Runner 3.0L 5spd 4WD

31x10.50 AT Tires (stock was 225)/15" wheels/4.30 Gears

60mph = 2500rpms
65mph = 2700rpms
70mph = near 3000rpms
80mph = near 3600rpms

Kyle, you are right. I'll start a new thread.

RJ, as far as I know, we are all autos.

Kyle are you running "correct speed" or un adjusted speed? For instance I'm using a SuperLift True Speed calibrator to correct mine.

So in all fairness you would have been about 9% of with the 33's and 4.10's with a yield of 9 miles per 100 not shown on the odometer. SO say you went 200 miles @ 9% increase you actually went 218 miles. With gears added and the idea that it brings it back to stock performance I know not what the %+/- will be. The only way to know is with a GPS, otherwise posting speeds and rpm's w/o correct speed is pointless. Unless you know the percentage to throw in there.

That is true Aaron, good point.

It would be more of an accurate chart if all the regeared guys had True Speed calibrators installed, but not every one does. Second, not everyone has a GPS to give exact numbers.

I was merely posting rpms at specific speeds. My intent was more to show what rpm a vehicle is at relative to the speed that reads on the OD. Your idea does sound better though.

Kyle, maybe I should just delete my new thread and leave it contained in this thread since my new thread is not 100% accurate. I do not want to mislead people...just give them estimates.

I will have my gears in soon enough with recalibration unit and GPS so we will know what the actual speed / RPM is with 4.56 gears and 295.75.16 Nitto Terra Graps 33.27"dia.
