Finally finished it last night. I installed a new Sony headunit with MP3 capability. Whole system includes:
Sony MP3 headunit
MTX Thunder 4122 2-ch amp
Pioneer components
Sony Class-D mono amp
Infinity 10" DVC sub

My goal was detail and clarity, not overpowering noise. I got exactly that. I'm very happy with the results.

 

Aw, why not go for overpowering noise....

 

what the hell is that thing. I would be murdered by the wife if I ever attempted to purchase/bring home something like that. I think that makes it even cooler.

 

It looks more sophisticated (spelling?) than the set up on Back to the Future Pt I.

 

I don't know, it was part of a bunch of WTF pics someone forwarded to me. Looks menacing though...
