As far as i know from talking to him, no he has focused on his V6 projects/school work. He may be going back to doing a turbo kit once he isnt so busy.
This of course is from me talking to him...

The guy says that production on the kits can start in a bout a week? And he says they're just about a little bit more than a supercharger.

Hello!
My 4runner is the one that SpeedFactory is using for the development of the turbo kit for our 3.4L engines. This one above is actually the system he designed for his tacoma. The kit on my runner has a front mounted intercooler and a smaller sized turbo. I will post build-up pics and descriptions in a new thread right now.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but are there any people out there that are still turbocharging 5vz's? I am sick of my supercharger and having to rebuild it (still haven't gotten the noise out of it) and want the extra tuning flexability of a turbo. Plus turbos are way cheaper once you have the manifolds and piping.
So...i'm mostly interested in turbo manifolds for the 5vz...anything, anywhere? any help is really appreciated

to turbo the 5vz - either make it yourself or find somone that will make you a manifold, crossover pipe and header for you. I made one for my 2000 4runner and am waiting to get it back from ceramic coating this week. Unfortunately not all engine bays are the same between the 4runners & tacomas, 5spds & autos, etc...which is why there is no "kit" available. Space is tight, but doable. There are a handfull of turbo'd 5vz's out there like samsonfab, dyota, and a few others over on customtacos. And yes, turbo 5vz's smack the pants off the stupidcharger any day.

i made my own set-up, didnt buy anything. I posted a link somewhere on here, but here's a link to the full post over on customtacos that i started.

I had it all installed, but noticed an exhaust leak where the drivers side header mated with the crossover pipe. It turned out that the motor i mocked it up on, was slightly different than the 3.4 in my engine bay. So long story short, i pulled my motor out, fixed the problems, and now just waiting for it to come back from ceramic coating. I tell what, now i know why there is no kit for this motor - its a royal P.I.T.A!
