Factory power steering fluid ?

Time for PS fluid change. The original fluid in my 2001 does not look like pink ATF. I am not doing a flush just a syphon and refill at the reservoir a few times. Best fluid match ?
Thx

The manual for my 01 specifes Dexron II or III ATF. What does yours look like, maybe it's just dark after 8 years of use.

Dexron II/III ATF ...

Don't be fooled by the color Dye from the factory fill,I think Toyota does this to distinguish between power steering fluid and all there other trans fluids.

Although any synthetic dex fluid will work as well.

I recommend a flush with Dex III ATF. It's really easy. I walk you through the procedure here.

 I work at a local Toyota dealership in the parts department, and the factory power steering fluid is no different than the run of the mill ATF, aside from the dye color and price. A 15 oz bottle of Toyota fluid is over $40, and a waste of money. Just make absolutely sure it is Dextron III or the equivalent.

Same color as ATF: red as cranberry juice.

Thanks alotawatts, it is nice to know that I am not crazy. I changed it anyway. The dealer charges about $95. I changed it in about 20 minutes with 2 people.
