Extend Both Diff Breathers?

I've read that it's good to extend both diff breathers and also that you only need to really do the rear breather.

What is the correct answer on this one? It seems relatively easy to do once you get the part number for that breather extension bit that the hose mounts to.

I am rarely in deep water, I would have to say extremely rarely. I do hit some nasty puddles though! Our road systems don't lend to great drainage at all! Is it even worth me doing this to my truck?

Also, where is the optimal place to put the breather once extended?

Thanks!

OMG search!!! lol
I put mine behind gas tank fill door as in numerous write ups, I never got to the front, but I have the parts to
Puddles don't matter, your truck was engineered to at least work on the street, splashes are okay, submersion is not

you don't need an extended breather for the occasional puddle

you only need one if you expect to be in water long enough to cool
the diff and suck water in. if you just dip the diff now and then not a big deal
I ain't saying -no chance-...rather, -low risk-

at least with my 99 4runner, I go and get wet and submerge now and then for about 20 feet at
a time and have never had any junk inside my diff as a result. axle bearings, now
that is another matter

if you have roads that get flooded and you drive in them for more than a 1/20th mile then yes I would plan ahead and extend the breather

You don't need to get a special part just some tubing and hose clamps: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ension-139986/

well you need some pipe fittings for the hose, and I just reused the diff breather for the top with the hose clamp
