Got an update on the Raptor. Drove about 45 miles to an OHV area and it gave the muffler a chance to break in. Its got a nice noise to it. I drove there and back doors-off so I could really hear it. At first it sounded like a stock muffler, but its got a nice little growl to it that makes it sound pretty good. I'm thoroughly pleased with the result. The Cherry Bomb was loud at idle and quiet at 2k rpm. The Raptor is quiet at idle and develops a nice gluttaral growl around 2k rpms and adds a nice effect.
Again, at $23 from amazon and $50 from Meineke to mount and add a downpipe....its the bargain of the century. Higly recommended.

I had an exhaust shop throw a Flowmaster 70 series on and found it mellow at idle, but annoying at freeway speeds/RPM's. Cut it out and threw on a Magnaflow and have had no complaints. I think it was $80 for the muffler and around $100 for the labor.

I bought a JBL Catback system from Underdog racing about a month ago. I am pleased with it. Good quality product for the price. It is louder than stock but it doesn't have that awful highway drone...It does not sound like one of those kids cars...you know the ones that wear baseball caps without removing the price tags, while driving their '95 Civics with the coffee can exhuast....

No comparison. Its still a flowmaster, which to me sounds like a redneck sheep trying to squeeze into a wolf suit.
The raptor just adds a little more growl onto that "old 4 cylinder" engine noise. It really could suck as my replacement OEM muffler was much larger than my old factory one and MUCH more efficient until my truck was an all terrain whisper. The raptor is just an excellent improvement over my previously Prius-esque sounding truck. It could clearly hold no candle to the noise of a flowmaster but I'm satisfied with the improvement over a stock muffler.

again, you guys are giving it too much credit. It just resonates the stock exhaust slightly better than the OEM muffler. I like to go offroading with my doors off and to do so with a cherry bomb was apallingly loud. I'd have mild tinitus when I finished for the day and I couldn't hear my music playing on the drive home. The Raptor adds a bit of (gentle) growl to the exhaust without deafening the driver and passenger and still maintains backpressure and all that stuff.

I'm an old guy and don't like loud exhaust anymore. I have been running cheap Turbo mufflers from Summit Racing. They sound good to me. A little more of a performance sound than stock but not much. Not raspy or ricey either.
Check out their website and you can choose from universal parts or direct fit for your specific vehicle.

I can only speak for the V6 but I enjoy Magnaflow. Louder than stock yes, but overly so, no. Nice rumble at idle, gets a little aggressive at WOT, but most important not crazy loud at freeway speeds. That is with headers and a stock cat.

There a certain muffler you would recommend?

YOUTUBE THE SOUND OF DIFFERENT SETUPS AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF. Usually people think their setup sounds nice. That's why they have it. To you, it could sound too loud, or ricey, or quiet, or whatever. Do some research.

I have looked at multiple videos. I have not found one for the magnaflow I am looking at. Thanks for your advice.
