Exhaust leak question.

I think i might have an exhaust leak coming from the passenger side headers. I have a 90 runner w/ the 3.0. It sounds like what an exhaust leak would sound like. My question is, would this make my mpg crappy or my power crappy? Also, is there a write-up on how to take off the headers to replace the gasket? And is there anything i should know before attempting this. It looks like it will be really hard to take off the headers since the bolts look like they're rusted to the nuts. Sorry, i'm just a n00b.
Thanks,
Nick

start spraying the bolts with pb blaster or wd40 or whatever everyday for at least a week in advance before doing any work.... be prepared to have to go and buy new bolts or studs.... jsut pull it off and put a gasket and make sure t otighten everything in the proper sequence

Alright, after looking at it some more, this job looks like its gonna be very frustrating. Is it bad if i just leave it as it is?
