Evap Canister buzz on '96 4runner

I've got a Tundra DC, now... But my buddy has a '96 4Runner and his evap canister will buzz when the engine is off. It's intermitent, but just standing there for a few moments, it buzzed a couple times. I was dumbfounded, to say the least. He says it seems to be heat-related. If it sits outside, it does it more.

Any ideas?

The fuel tank has to vent somewhere, and this is where toyota "sent" the vapors. Unfortunately, their original design makes a buzzing noise as the vehicle sits, like you mentioned. The fix is a $20 part if I am not mistaken. In fact, I think I have a part number and picture of it at home.

Any reputable Toyota parts store should know about this problem and have the solution - a small black noise suppressing attachment, available for purchase.

I don't really care about the sound so I haven't bothered fixing it.

just called the local yota dealer, they had absolutely no clue... But that doesn't surprise me. They've given me some bad info in the past. Trying a dealer a little farther away.

If anyone knows the part #, that'd be great!

I don't know. There was only one thread here on YT that listed the picture and part #, but now its down. I did find this PDF though, which lists the EVAP as part of an extended warranty campaign. The only problem is that the part is functioning properly, it just doesn't sound good. So, Toyota will probably not cover it. I am taking a copy of this PDF down there to see what happens.
