engine light code P0120
#22
First Welcome to Yota Tech !!
The people who told you to just get rid of the truck most likely wanted it themselves.
We will get this figured out.
One must remember when you get any code it is not just the sensor in question.
Was the old TPS even tested or just replaced??
Some real poor quality parts out there these days failed out of the box??
In your case it just be a corroded connection.
Are you able to do some mechanical work yourself or at the mercy of paying someone.
Be nice to know where you are help could be close at hand
Things to know mileage and drivetrain??

To answer your questions:
Yes the old TPS was tested and it was bad...
Yes...I do all the work on the vehicles. My husband is retireD military so we can't afford putting our truck in the shop every time lol...
I am in Austin TX. Been here for 7 months. And really don't know anyone here. Don't know who to trust when it comes to having someone help fix something that I can't get it. A lot of shops will tell oh this is your problem and ends up costing way more than you planned.
The mileage on the truck is 187,000!
And is 4 cylinder 2wd front!!

I had the po120 error on my ´02 double cab. $55 dollars at autozone, the engine light turned off before I left the parking lot. I would recommend buying the part before cleaning the intake unless you have reason to believe it´s dirty.

Is that the only code that comes up? I recommend taking it to a different store....find an Autozone and see what their code reader says. And check the fuse that is being suggested to look at....
OOPS.....just noticed it's a 6 month old post from camo girl......she's long gone.
Error Code: P0120 (Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch ”A” Circuit)
- ECTS Fuse.
- Wiring harness.
- Throttle control motor and sensor
- ECM
