This is the backside of the stock fan on the 5vz. See the outermost piece? If I try and turn that at any time, I have to really crank it with my hand. It has a lot of drag, even in a "cold" condition. A lot of drag for an engine? Not really...but it is parasitic drag none the less. Under heat soak conditions, the entire fan comes into play (see fan roar). No matter how you look at it, an electric fan mod, while not in use is superior to the stock fan.

Someone dyno this mod already!
