E-Locker?
#4
It depends on the 4Runner. Most limiteds from '96 up to '99 had them, some SR5's had them as an option. It gets fuzzier in 2000 because some began coming with the full-time 4WD option, which got rid of the possibility of the locker. Once 2001 rolled around, none had them as a factory option.
The only "real" way to tell is to crawl up under the thing and look at the rear diff. You need to see if it has the electric actuator on the front-top of the 3rd member. Also, you can look to see if there is a "RR DIFF LOCK" button next to the steering wheel. Note that this is different from the "Center Diff Lock" that is in 2001-2002 (and some 2000) 4Runners.

No there is no button there. So I dont guess I have one? Last night I took my runner places jeeps with lifts and 35" mud tires were having problems. By the end of the night everyone was worshiping the almighty YOTA. lol

Sounds like you were driving smart. Even if you did have a locker, you would have had to turn it on, so you would know if you had it.
