Question dynamat cost

What is a decent price to dynamat the 4runner? All i'm looking to do now is the doors and the trunk area not the whole car like the roof or the floor. What have you guys paid to get it done, and does it really help?

Sleepy, I am sorry, I have not had this done, but I am sure that it helps quite a bit. I have been to some car audio shows and all of the good cars w/ the owner that know what they are doing, are using it. I would check out Crutchfield and see what they charge for just the Dynamat and maybe you can do it yourself, because I don't think that it is too hard to do! Goodluck...keep us informed! :beaver:

Hey Sleepy. If you can pop yer panels, it's easy to install. I did my Datsun using a blow dryer and a wallpaper roller. I was at Special-T Tinting. They do stereo installs. They showed me a new product similar to Dynamat they said was much better. Also showed me some rubber circles with ridges. They stick on and are supposed to be more directional for specific speaker placement. Lots of kool stuff and they do good work. He's the guy who did my tint graphics too. Check 'em out. Quality work and good prices...can't beat that!

Hey, my .02 cents, Dynamat is very expensive compared to some alternatives, just because the name is recognized. There are many other alternatives, including Brown Bread (never used it), RAAMMAT (a fellow named Rick came across this stuff and now sells it on e-bay - great guy, has a nice tricked out 2wd tacoma - I've used it, and it's good stuff), and my personal favorite cause it's so cheap, is 'Peel n' Seal' from Lowes. I've got my doors done with RAAMMAT and everything else done with Peel n' Seal. Both are real easy to put on; the hardest part, as mentioned, is popping the panels out. And it does make a difference! An added bonus is having my doors close with a Mercedes-like thump. Have fun,
Trent

I've heard of a few people using some stuff from Lowes/ Home Depot, but was afraid of this stuff because some claimed a nasty smell (kind-of like tar paper).
Does this "Peel n' Seal" stuff have any odor to it ?

I too had heard about the Peal n Seal smelling like tar, so I was skeptical, and only did a portion of my truck at first. It has a slight odor, yes, which dissipates quickly. No worse than carrying a role of tar paper for a day - you can still smell it, but it goes away in a couple days. There is no trick at all to applying it (both Peal n Seal and Raammat), they stick like glue
