Drive shaft hitting gas tank. What to do?
As the title says, my rear driveshaft is hitting my gas tank when my rear driver side tire is flexed a lot. What should I do about this? I've already had the gas tank modified when the leaf springs were put back there but it wasnt anything major. Here's the pics:

Without the rear coils, you do have room to raise the gas tank, I did this on my 1st gen:

Downey resells the tanks Northwest Metal Products make (http://www.nwmp.com/). Also, they are auxiliary tanks, no level senders, no fuel pumps, just set up togravity feed the main tank. So it would take some work to make them work as a main tank, NWMP can set one up for that type of use on a custom basis. You can relocate the stock tank:

You could add a panhard rod, maybe on the opposite side as the 2nd gens have it with the coil springs. But heck, if you can do that leaf spring conversion (assuming you did the work), raising the gas tank is a piece of cake, assuming you have a body lift. Or moving the tank to the rear is not that much more work from the writeup I posted. Doing either will also increase your ground clearance several inches.

tank, lines, fittings and external fuel pump together. . . I'd say in the $500-550 range.
if i remember correctly
the tank was 300
pump was 100
lines and fittings were another 100
rest for tax, shipping, and misc screw ups till i got it right
if you go soft lined get the teflon inner liner, i can smell gas leaking through the plain rubber lines. I'm going to convert it all to hardline b/c its cheaper, safer, and wont make your car smell like gas.

I would think a 32 gallon tank is overkill and something around 10-14 gallons would be much easier to fit underneath, say in the spare tire carrier area, still protected and out of the way and NOT in the cab.
