Drive shaft center bearing play

2001 Tacoma Dbl Cab

How much play, if any, should be in the center bearing? The one between the two driveshafts.

The U-Joints seem solid but there is a quarter inch or more play in the center bearing.

If it is like a chevrolet center bearing it should be pretty snug. I havent dealt with a toyota one but being the same concept it should be the same

Well, there in lies my problem. I put it on the lift and there is a LOT of slop there. I can move it an easy 1/2 inch or more.

Now I just have to hunt down the best place to get it. I am sure the dealership thinks they are gold plated.

The 2001 - 2004 FSM's don't seem to provide any spec's on allowable 'play' in the center / intermediate bearing.

The amount you describe certainly seems excessive, though ...
