I've got a 94 runner that I plan on replacing the rear springs. I can't decide between Downey or OME and was hoping you guys that have replaced yours could help me.
I imagine that with time, all springs will sag, and was wondering:

1) How long you have had your downey/omes?

2) If you have noticed any sag or different ride since they were installed?

I know this topic has been beat to death, but I couldn't find what I was looking for through searching and thought this might help some others out too.

I used to own a '95 4Runner & the first thing I did to it was to replace the factory suspension w/ a full OME kit. I had it for 4 years & never saw or noticed any sag or deterioration in the ride. I was so pleased w/ the performance of the OME suspension both on & off road that I am considering it for my '99 Taco.

I know this board seems to be a little more for Downey, but I've seem some complaing about downeys sagging on other boards. The only thing I've really heard about the OMEs as far as sag is that they tend to settle a little bit within the first few months but thats it. Did you experience this?

I have the OME's...have had them for about a month, and have noticed no sagging. I don't expect to see any, either...

All suspensions will have a settling in period. I remember back when I built up my first sports car & installed Intrax Springs to lower the car & Bilstein shocks. When I got the car on the ground it was no where near the ride height it was supposed to be & I was really pissed. I was assured that the suspension would settle & after a week or so everything did just that & it was fine. As for the 4Runner I never did measure the ride height after I installed the OME suspension but it was obvious that it was sitting higher. In 4 years of use I never saw any noticeable drop in its ride height & I am very picky when it comes to my vehicles. If you would like I can send you a pic or 2 showing my old 4Runner w/ the OME suspension & you can see for yourself how it looked.

I've had the Downey's(HD) on the wife's winter beater-'93, 3.0-auto-no sagging yet...and I don't expect any either! I'm really impressed with the ride of the springs & bilsteins all around.

night and day with the OME - only had it on for a little over a week but no sag...love it.

i have been looking in to ome springs and shocks for my 94 4runner. you said you used to have a 95, same gen as mine. i was wondering where you found that complete ome kit and how much it costs. i considered kits a while ago but they were pushing more than a grand.

I have the Downey HD rear coils, and they are great coils. I drive all over the place and they have plenty of flex with a good ride.

I have had them since 2002, and they have no sag (actually, I don't think you have to worry about sag in any aftermarket srpings, they are all designed to avoid that, OEM too probably). You will have to crank your torsion bars in front to match the back, they end up being about a 2-2.5" lift in back...

I've had my OME setup for a couple of weeks now. I don't expect the coils to settle anymore. There is NO sag at all. Note: I have the HD springs and such. I ordered mine from Rocky Road outfitters...they cost me around 500 shipped.

Downey HD's and Bilsteins all around. This set up should have been stock as it is by far made me a happy camper. I've had the coils on for a couple years and have not had any noticable sag if any at all. The springs were nice, but I think they did more lift and support then anything else. It was the bilsteins that amde it kick butt!!! I would highly recomend.

s wall, i just installed the OME 900s this week so it hasn't gotten past that "settling" point yet, but i absolutely love them. i went with procomp shocks all around just because i didn't have the money for the $80/shock OME's...rides a little stiffer now but still great. here's a link to my post and you can check out the before and after shots....https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f31/got-ome-coils-installed-56377/
