Downey Headers on a 3.0L
#21
But in Japan
All,
I have been looking at headers for the 3.0 for over two years now. it is an item that is just on the market here in Japan. they have some real funky laws about what you can and can not do. From the block to the cat there must be gaskets and bolt together flanges no clamps allowed. The pipe attached to the cat must be bolt together flange also, you can clamp a muffler on to that. then the real hoot is the tail pipe must extend to the rear and clear the body or bumper. If you bend the pipe and run just behind the rear wheel they will tell you during your two year inspection that it need to be extended to the rear but allow you to pass . DON"T FIX IT, they will do the same thing again two years later??????
I would love to get a full exhust. In some ways I am waiting for the road/install report from Morph to make a final descision on it.
Then I will have to figure out how to get it to Japan and on the truck

I have Downey's on my 88 4Runner. Can't say that they make a difference at all, since they were there when I bought the truck.
The first thing that I would do if I purchased Downey's is weld flanges on the collectors... The fact that Downey continues to to sell these with a slip-fit connector makes zero sense to me.
