Well.......its sold. Took deposit on it this morning, ended the eBay Auction and the transaction should be completed this coming friday. He is flying down from Seattle and going to drive it home. And yes, i did get my asking price. It will be missed greatly, but its what needed to be done. Hope the new owner enjoys it as much as i have.

Damn. That sucks. That is one helluva truck! Whoever buys it will surely enjoy it. Good luck selling it and don't forget Craigslist if you haven't already done so. I always have good luck on CL.

CL is good but u have to filter thro all the bs emails that want to buy ur rig for half ur asking price, that sucks that guy backed out i would be kinda mad at him but do another run on ebay with his deposit see if u can sell it there. I sold mine on cl took a month or 2 tho and got alot of ppl asking to buy it for 2 grand and i had an asking price of 6k sold it tho for 5500 on there.

hi guys, it was me who bought it and then backed out. i made sure i had all my duck in order, ie: talking to my bank re: a loan, etc., before i called colin. we made a deal, and i was scheduled to fly out one way and drive the truck home this friday, this was all done on the phone friday and i paypaled a deposit sat. morn. i was going to tell you guys i bought the truck once i had it in my driveway, i don't count my chickens before they hatch.
but, sturday night after i came home i came across a 2000 limited w/ 98k, bone stock for $10,800 an hour north of me and went and looked at it. i bought it and will have it in my driveway tomorrow or tuesday and will post a pic. its bone stock, black. nothing fancy and definately no where near as bad a$$ as colin's rig. it was not a financial decision for me as much as when it really comes down to it and as tough as colin's rig is, i just don't need a 4runner that is that built up. its over kill for me, i spend most of my time in the city and on the freeway, reality is i will probably never go wheeling or go on an off road trail with that being the main purpose for being there. i need a 4x4 suv to get to the mountain for snowboarding and to the beach for surfing. with that said, i will probably eventually put a small lift and bigger tires on the 4runner i bought just b/c i like the look but gears? air lockers? cb?, etc... probably not. also, with that said. I am selling my 85 4runner for the same reasons i did not buy collins. its too bad ass and too hard core for me.
i am waiting to see if the guy whom i bought my 2000 from today wants to buy/part trade on my 85 but if he does not i will list my 4runner on craig's. i just went over my receipts today and i have over $6k in parts/labor in the last 1.5yrs i've owned it.
again, colin, my appology for backing out on the deal, i feel like a d00sh but hope some of the deposit $ buys a half decent bottle of scotch. i did not back out guys b/c there was something wrong with the rig at all. this truck is bad ass but waaay more then i need.

that sounds like u backed out for a good reason, not some kid sitting there bidding on every other truck and then backing out of all of them cuz in reality he doesnt have any money. i still say that is a sick rig and he shouldnt have any problem selling it

thanks guys, i feel like a d00sh but wanted to make the right decision so your understanding is appreciated since this is a small community and i've either allready have or will run into some of you in real life and i will come back here for help for my 2000 limited so just wanted to be above the board and straight up as much as possible.
update on my truck. i'm picking up the check from my bank on wednesday, guy is driveing the '00 down either thursday or friday, taking the $10.8k check and buying my 85 for $3.6k. its less then i could have gotten for it if i sold it on my own but i don't want to deal with the hassle and waiting so i'm taking a loss on it. which kind of brings me to whats been on my mind.... why is he selling his for 10.8 which is way blow blue book? he said he didn't care bout taking loss and just wanted to get out of his payments b/c he was not using it. i'll just take him at his word i guess, afterall i'm taking a loss on my rig.
so hopefully friday i will have it insured, licensed and smogged. then off to my mechanic for a tune up and inspection (yes, i should have gotten that first i know, but it was a time sensative sale due to his low asking price and i did look it over as much as i could). anything in particular to look out for or things i should have done besides the obvious like fluids, filters, plugs, wires, cap/rotor? thanks

That is an awesome truck but several factors hurt it's resale including a much smaller buyer target and the buyer would most likely be buying that as a 2nd "fun" vehicle and not a DD with gas prices possibly heading north of $4/gal in the near future. Plus the value of 3rd gens is dropping a bit quicker as they age and 4th gens in the teens are getting more common.
Plus some buyers fear modded trucks and ones that have seen actual off road abuse.
Remember there's a couple of built up 3rd gens on this board that have been for sale for over a year and still might not have sold.
Most of us regular joes would be financing most of that price (when said and done almost $18k) of the truck and a monthy payment would be $3-400 a month or more.
I wish I could afford it.
