Post Disconnecting '92 4Runner Alarm

Does anyone know how to disconnect a factory alarm on a '92 4Runner?

I recently bought a used '92 4Runner from a private party and was told that the alarm didn't work. I later found out that the alarm is working but because there are no remotes there is no way of disarming it. Now when you open the doors the alarm goes off and the lights start flashing. The horn is also supposed to sound but in order to avoid this a previous owner just simply removed the horn fuse from the fuse box under the hood. The lights eventually stop flashing but in order to start the car you must turn the key to on, turn it off and then turn it on again.

It's an all around pain and since the horn is disabled is also unsafe. I don't need the alarm so I would just like to permanently disconnect it. Is there an easy way to do this?

Daved, are you sure it is factory? If it is then all that you need to do is to go to the dealer and they should be able to get you a new remote. If it is not, not sure if 92's even offered an alarm, there is a web site I found a while back that says it can get a remote for any car alarm system. Just can't remember what it was. Try a search. Look under the dash for the alarm "brain". The make and model should be printed on it.

Not sure on how to disconnect alarm. Sorry.
