Differential Swap Questions

Hi Guys, I have what I hope will be a quick question. I’ve searched this site, and these sites as well:
http://toyota.off-road.com/toyota/ar....jsp?id=274535
http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/ , but I still have a few questions. I have a 2000 4runner, V-6, 4wd, and I would like to change the gear ratio mainly to gain some performance for when I put 285/75s on. Since I’m kinda broke/cheap, I’m looking for a used differential, with some kind of traction device already installed. From reading these sites I believe that any front 7.5 differential will fit in my truck, from 1986 to present, and any 8” V-6 or 4cyl differential will fit in the rear, as long as it’s not from a Tacoma, Tundra, or Sequoia. I should be OK installing a diff from any previous 4runner, and any Toyota Mini-Truck. If this is correct, please let me know. Thanks for all your help, Vince

I re-built a 1999 V6 four-runner diff for my 1993 4cyl. truck. Yes, what you have above is correct. I used the V6 carrier, because the pinion shaft diameter and bearings are larger than that of 2nd generation 4cyl. trucks. If you go this route make sure it is out of a V6 to handle the extra work load on the carrier.

Great, that's just the affirmation I was looking for. As long as I find a V-6 diff I'm good to go. Thanks!

The front diffs are not interchangable. MAYBE, the gears, but you have to get that answer from someone else on here.
