Deckplate Mod Saturday
Hey guys. Just letting you know I plan on completing the deckplate mod on Saturday. Wish me luck. Email me if you got any tips too. Hell, if time permits, I might be able to do my intake silencer removal with the help of some off-road buds.

Dave

Thanks for the input. One question, is there any more performance gain by going with a 5" as opposed to a 4" or 3"? Seems like it'd get more air. Also, any ideas on how to get my pinstripe of the car?

I can't help you with the pinstripes... Perhaps one of our more detailing oriented members can assist you there...

pinstripes
I was wondering about the pinstripes a little bit ago, and the folks here told me to use a heat gun. A hair dryer worked a little bit at first but was way to slow. Try the heat gun. You may also need some bumper sticker remover if the heat gun doesn't take all of the glue off.
Hope that helps.
Have fun.

Ahhh. The sweet sound of success. Took a while for me to get the parts together considering I left to get them at 4:30. Got everything but the sealant and screen. However, the deck plate is so tight that the sealant isnt really neccesary. As for the screen, right now Im using a piece of my old nylon lacrosse uniform. Tomorow, Ill look for some screen. Only screen I found was sold in 8 by 3 foot rolls. Definitely didnt want that.
I was pretty scared though. After I bought a 4 inch deckplate, I realized that it was actually 4.5 inches. The largest holesaw I had was 4.25. Eventually, I used the holesaw and shaved around the sides for a few min with a power sander. It was messy, but it worked like a charm. After testing everything, I could not really feel all that much horsepower, but I could really hear a much deeper and louder sound when I stomped the gas or the engine downshifted. All in all, it was worth it. But if you dont have a dremmel or a hole saw yet, Be warned. Its not as cheap as advertised. I predict that if you have to buy those, it would cost you about $45 + air filter. Still worth it though. Didnt take long at all. Just pay attention to directions and print copies from multiple sites. Just incase someone misses a step. One regret though, I FORGOT A CAMERA! When I put a real bug screen in tomorow Ill be sure to take some photos though.
