None of the above. But one thing is for certain. I know I cut the correct wire. When I tried to turn on the fog lights it won't come on when I finished the whole mod. Then when I decided to get it back to normal and re-connected the wires the lights came on. So that I know is the wire.

So this continuity is checking that current is running through all points of this new circuitry of this mod right?

Right.

I've gotta be gone for a few hours. I'll check in again when I get back. Good luck.

Well a few years ago when i first performed the mod i priced out a new relay:chicken: . I remember that the price was prohibitive so I decided to go for it and mod my current one without a backup. Cant really remember the price...

Ok I just called my parts contact...price is not all that bad.

Part# 90987-02012 Retail $50.68 Internet $38.14

Do the prices for Toyota factory parts drop each year???

dlotoy4runner, look on the forums index page for the Vendor section.

Click on that and the 2nd part of it near the bottom lists some online Toyota parts centers that give you around 15% off or more on parts.
You can get some pretty good deals that way.

My personal favorite, never had a problem yet. They will give you the price quoted above.

Conicelli Toyota

There are a bunch of other online retailers on my "Links" page.

Hey jal,

Is there a particular factory Toyota relay that you need for this fog light install? Most 5-prong standard relays only run for about $5, wondering what's special/different about the Toy ones?

Al,

Doltoy is performing the "fog lamp mod". This mod enables the 1999+ factory installed fog lamps to switch on while the parking lamps are on. Usually you have to have the low beams on. Also the mod enabls the fogs to remain on while the high beams are on whereas the factory set-up switches the fogs off when the high beams are on.

That said, the relay price quoted above fits exactly into the factory fuse box...plug and play style. The reason for ordering another one is because if you bend the prongs too many times who knows when or if it may break off...and it is easy to return to stock.

If someone were to do an install from scratch, sure they should go with a basic $5 type and screw it down somewhere under the hood.

Ah..I see. I figured as much. Toyota just loves us to have to buy the parts from them for the perfect fit! They like handing us the bill too I believe..

I think I bent and straightened my relay twice and then switched it for the power outlet relay after that to keep from having to repeatedly bend the same lug. I'm sure there are more relays under there that can be swapped the same way.

The Amsoil 2-stage air filter for your 2002 4Runner is part #TS115/AF361 as per Amsoil's site (I looked it up for ya).

No, no 15% off on the Amsoil goods. That site is Gadget's. It's nice to help other forum members where possible, so if you are going to order it, try his order form.
