Yep its the truth. My dad drives his 96 5-speed 4Runner like this, it takes him forever to accelerate, but he does gat 25 mpg.

When I drove up to Bend, Oregon last week, I let my sister-in-law drive. She just got her license, and drives very cautious. She drove 55-60 mph and got 21 mpg on my Supercharged engine! My wife and I got 18 mpg that trip, normally we get 16 or so since the commute to work is 7 minutes.

I agree with the others, use an injector cleaner and do a tune up. I used Wynns at Firestone, it was an oil, gas and engine cleaner, I heard from customers that it worked very well.

Well... I'm pissed again, I only got around 14 mpg on my last tank. The car also takes longer to start when I turn the key, which may be a sign of something???

If you're having starting probs, might wanna check your fuel pump, maybe change out your fuel filter if you've not done so already and check your starter and starter contacts. My dad's '98 Taco was giving him cold startup probs and he changed the starter and contacts and fires up every time, the first time.

The starter was replaced about two months ago. I decided to change my fuel filter today, which was really EASY. My car starts a little quicker now.
