Yeah, I would say take off the stock bumper. It's some nice work you did but right now it looks like a hybrid brush guard/bull bar/metal that blocks the marker lights...so take off that stock bumper and do some more fabrication would be my thoughts

Umm dude, it looks disgusting.
Now if you took off the stock bumper, it would be much, much better and more functional. I wonder what your approach angle is now?

hmmmm,

While not trying to be harsh about your hard work.....it "looks" like you just glued a bumper that was originally designed for another vehicle to the front of your existing bumper......which isn't the most pleasing look for any vehicle.

I'd get rid of your stock bumper, and have somebody fabricate one that actually fits your vehicle. It appears from this work that your budget for these kind of mods is pretty small, so you may have to save your pennies for a higher-quality bumper, but in the long run it will be worth it.

As others have noted, your approach angle isn't much better than a sedan.....which goes against the 4WD nature of your 4Runner.....

just my two cents.....

You know, he did ask for comments from everybody.....I think most people are being pretty nice. Good thing he didn't post this on Pirate, he would have been eaten alive.

I'd say most people have been honest. I've seen ONE jerk post. Everyone else just said, "good job, but take off the stocker. Whats the point of a new bumper if you don't remove the crappy stock one?

Exactly what I was thinking. It looks glued to your existing bumper.

Second that, SteveO

I'd say this thread should end here (though I know it won't...) Come on people, we're here to help and have fun. Go somewhere else to flame people.

"If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say nothing at all."

If that confuses you, be nice or don't post.

Thanks.

Fink: I understand what you are saying. However if I make a post asking for an opinion of something I have done to my truck, I expect to hear the nice and the bad. JMO...

Very good point man.

However the majority of us on here realize there is a nice way to say you don't like something versus blatanly making fun of something.

There are a ton of pics of things I see on here that I would never do to my truck, but most of us are mature enough to recognize that whatever one does to their own rig is something they obviously like and are most likely proud of...so we can take that into consideration when replying.

But I see what you're saying, feel free to say you don't like something...just trying being tactful.

Thanks all!

Fink

P.S. - 98sr5tacoma has notified me that his posting was an april fools joke (the link) so I have removed that from the thread to prevent any further questions/issues with it.

Well that answers my question about how to approach constructive criticism on the heavy side.

Sheesh My thread is just blowing up!

I appreciate everyones comments, and I knew the bad ones would be coming, but I'm not done with it yet.

I can take it. Bring it on. Tell me how you would make it better?

I took off the chrome one and then held it up there upside down and it looks okay. I might have to go totally custom and start from scratch, but we'll see.
