Custom Stinger/baja Bumber

DISPITE MY INABILITY TO FIGURE OUT WHY MY 4WD WON'T ENGAGE I HAVE DECIDED TO MOVE AHEAD WITH MY FIRST MODIFICATION TO MY 96' 4RUNNER. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT SOME OF THE DESIGNS SEEN HERE ON YOTATECH AND DECIDED TO TRY TO FIND A GUY CLOSE TO THE POCONO MOUNTAINS IN PA WHERE I LIVE TO MAKE ONE. I FOUND A GUY IN DEWART PA WHO HAS ALL KINDS OF INDUSTRIAL AGE HEAVY DUTY METAL FORMING MACHINES IN HIS SHOP. HE DOES SOME AMAZING WORK ON ULTRA HIGH END CLASSIC VEHICLES AND COMES ACROSS AS A HUMBLE, GIFTED CRAFTSMAN. HE'S NEVER DONE A STINGER/BAJA BUMPER BEFORE AND I GAVE HIM SEVERAL PHOTO EXAMPLES OF STUFF I HAVE ONLY SEEN MOUNTED ON 1ST AND 2ND GEN 4RUNNERS. SO, HIS PROTOTYPE WILL BE A UNIQUE 3RD GEN FIT. H'ELL BE USING 2 AND 1/1/2 INCH STEEL PIPE AND BALISTIC STEEL FOR THE SKID PLATE. IT WILL ALSO HAVE A WINCH MOUNT. I HAVE GIVEN HIM ALOT OF CREATIVE LICENSE SO IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE THE FINAL PRODUCT. THE GUYS NAME IS VICTOR YORDY- THIS IS THE LINK TO HIS SHOP

HE JUST PUT THIS SITE UP

Yeah, my buddy has a cheap Chicago winch that he has beat the crap out of on a regular basis and it still works fine. It's chinese but I could care less. It cost $100 brand new and fits perfect on the winch mount just above that balistic steel skid plate.

NEVER MIND what I said about the Chicago winch. After I posted I decided to call my buddy up about it. He says it's a peice of crap and melted or something the first time he used it in a real situation. I guess i misunderstood him.

I stand corrected AGAIN. HE burnt the winch out because it was only rated at like 2000lbs and tried to pull out a big ford truck with 15 bails of hay on board. He has two Chicago winches. The one on his other truch is rated at like 8000 lbs and he says it's a little slow but invincible.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay to have the stinger bumper fabbed up? I like the look of it on the 3rd gen

Not at all my friend. It ended up being just under $800 including the powder coat, winch mount and turn signals.

I thinking about trying to do my own. My buddy has a welder and a pipe bender. What size tubing did you use?

Looks good for a capable vehicle. Not really something you'd want to put on a daily driver.

just wondering what kind of winch can you make out of the starter motor.
Expedition spares might be handy to be able to swap it out.
