well after 3 tanks, your ECU should have already adjusted.
stay off the gas, thats whats causing your poor MPG.
my MPG went way down too, i closed it up and my MPG went back up so i never open mine anymore.

Does your state pipe in oxiginated fuels for winter? It might be a coincidence that you installed the deckplate at the same time oxiginated fuels hit the market in your area. I know my mileage drops with winter fuel.

This is interesting, my driving habits are not at ALL aggressive. I don't speed excessively, nor accelerate at an above average pace. I did the intake pipe removal as soon as I got the truck so I'm not sure what the gas milage would be the other way, but on my last tank i got a miserable 16.5mpg. Anyone seen a decrease in mileage from this modification?

There is a fuse under your hood that will say ECU that is the one you should take out. After you reset your engine will probably run a little different for up to a hundred miles or so.

I was told that todays additives that clean your system and improve GM do not do the job that half of a simple bottle of rubbing alcohol does. I was told that adding half of a bottle of rubbing alcohol will clean the system, and in turn improve my GM. TRUE? or FALSE?

Well I added it to my filled up tank tonight so I will let you know in a week. Currently I am at 105 miles per tank of fuel. I use Supreme and my engine is well tuned. I am lifted seven inches sitting on 35 inch TXR tires and have done the air intake mod. I dont expect much for the time of year it is but I am curious to see if it helps. Any info on "rubbing alcohol" is still needed though. I am just being my own guini pig cuz im smart like that.

Ummm... rubbing alcohol is something like 70% water I believe. I don't think i'll be dumping any in my tank. I used Xylene or Tolulene which is more potent when I wanted to run more boost to keep detonation away. I guess alcohol might help clean a little bit, but your truck may run bad I would think by putting all that water in there. Shouldn't hurt it to bad, but I've never heard of such stuff and wouldn't advise it. Just doesn't sound right to me. As far as resetting the ECU, I did that when i had the battery unplugged while I did the starter contact change... none the less, even if I hadn't reset it, it should have learned the "new" mod in the past 5 or 6 tanks i've run through it.

we sell rubbing alcohol at our store you can buy 70%alcohol
or 99% alcohol i've had a couple customer tell me they put
the 99% alcohol into their tanks before their cars go through air
care(our emission testing program) and they pass with flying colours.

The guy that told me about doing this said he had an older chev maybe 70s or 80s and lived in Nevada somewhere where they do emissions. He said he took it in and failed, so he took all of the emissions equiptment off expecting to just use it as a trash hauler snow plow rig. Well he got the idea from somewhere or someone to pour the half a bottle of rubbing alcohol in his tank to clean up all that fun stuff. He took it in and still passed emissions w/o emissions stuff installed. For an older p/u that says alot i think.
