Courtesy Lights

Hey guys, I recently decided to start a project after lusting after the sweet courtesy light on fancy luxury cars. I'll let the pictures and video do the talking.

It is fused and ran off a relay.

What do you think? I tried to stay away from the underglow neon look.

I could always put a switch on them and use them for rock lights...

Haha have no fear Nick, the lights also turn on when I open the door so we can make it work for you. I would like to hang out again for sure!

Interesting Joe... so are they hooked up to your alarm?... keyless entry fob?

what did you salvage the light off of? or is it a fog light?

The lights are just some AutoZone specials (Halogen Crystal Rod Fog Light). I got them because they advertised that crisp cut off. The lens is like a concaved prism that only outputs or bends the light into that clean line.

Cool idea Joe.

I've always thought it would be cool to do some running board lights in a similar fashion to the newer 4runners until I realized that running boards suck.

Thanks Joe they certainly are a strange shape for a fog light... but they seem to work...

Oh and to answer the other part of your question aviator, to make a long story short the relay is ran off my dome light so whenever the dome light comes on the courtesy lights do too and whenever I unlock the truck the dome light is turned on thru something called a body ecu (or something like that???)

I'm not big on running boards on offroad vehicles. All they're good for is collecting mud.

I'm planning on doing this too. How come you didn't use a white neon tube on either side? Not all around the car like a ricer look but just under each door. I dont think it would look that bad if it just comes on when the door is open. Right?

Hey, sry to ignore your question so long. I just wasn't sure how sturdy the neon tubes were and I kind of wanted something out of the line of fire for like mud and that debris. It would have made for a cleaner light though. Less distortion I'm sure.

Do it and post some pics!

Thanks for reminding me about this one... it was on my list of things to do and I'd forgotten about it... it was a mental list...

x2 on reminding me about this one!

Would love to see some details on the wiring for this. You just wire the relay to the domelight fuse?
