Conic Filter on Tacoma - Impossible?!
...It seems to be!!! I have a 1996 2.7L tacoma and I'm trying to just remove the POS airbox and throw a Conic filter in it's place...
Sound easy enough but the Mass Air Flow sensor is connected into the piping that connects directly into the airbox and has a SQUARE fitting that bolts onto the side of the airbox, instead of a pipe, THUS making a bolt-on mod a bit more complicated.
I have been looking around because I don't want to buy an entire intake kit, I simply want to throw a K&N conic filter in place of the airbox and call it good. I just checked ebay and found the following listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2438924605
You will notice that the filters are both ˟˟˟˟, but my eye is on that adapter!!! That will allow me to bolt into the mass air flow piping then put a conic filter right on there, but i am not about to spend 40 bucks for just that adapter so I can throw away the crappy filter! I am wondering if anyone has any links to buy JUST the adapters?! Or an idea for me to use without replacing the pipe.
A deckplate and filter are still in the picture, but I think a conic would work better?

Hey dude I have a '95 Tacoma with the 2.7 and made the adapter myself for about $5. Ill try and take a pic of it tonight after work and post it on here. All I did was took a piece of heavier gauge sheet metal and a 2.5" or 3"(cant rememeber but will check) PVC Terminal adapter for the cone filter to clamp to. Works great! Let me get you a pic and see if you can fab one yourself. Any other questions just ask. Give me a day to get you a pic before you go buy an adapter.
