compliment my baby...
After I got out of my truck tonight at a local Starbucks, I am welcomed with a high five(from a girl at that) saying nice ride. Keep in mind my truck is a 1990 4runner. Its not in bad shape mind you, but I just find it so crazy that I get so many compliments on my truck and its so old. Makes me never wanna get rid of her. Does anyone else get this? Especially with the 2nd gens? Everyone is always asking me what yr it is(they dont know toyota that well) and always say, 'i thought it was like a 97 or newer' Only two guys from this site have seen it in person, and maybe it really is that nice, who knows. I was just curious, how many of you guys get compliments on your 2nd gens, or first gens for that matter. I already know you guys in the 3rd and 4th gens get them

I have got a compliment from some other Toyota 4x4 owners and my friend with a Cherokee thinks it flexes better than his stock Jeep, but not really by anyone else.
Unless you count last night. Some guy that worked at a fast food place I was at came outside while I was still there in the parking lot and asked if I was from Arizona. I said yes and he said he could tell because of how dirty it was.

It's happened to me a few times as well. At a gas station a while back a girl came up to me and told me it looked really nice and asked what year and about gas mileage and so on (no high five though ). I keep it in tip top shape inside and out. In the summer time it gets washed once a week....at least.

I get lots of compliments when mine is dirty. And a girl I work with thinks my truck is "cute." I don't know if I like that compliment.
So do a lot of people mistake your 4runners with Nissan Pathfinders? My old boss at a Chevy dealership always thought it was a Pathfinder

Don't do anything you will regret!
I get fair amount of complements and looks all the time. A guy last night came up to me drunk off his ass and wanted to know what lift I had on it. Ended up he had a lifted pathfinder. Only had room for 31s but he said there wasn't anything available for it. Ive had a couple of Thats your truck?? from people that have seen it. Thats probably (well one of) the biggest ego boosts you can give a guy.

now they cant make that mistake since ive drilled into their heads the word '4runner', namely since i cant stop talking about it.

A couple of years ago a guy stopped and complimented me on the great work i had done to it. He said he had never seen a "custom job like that before
It was during the summer and I had the soft top rolled up!!!
He must've thought it was a pickup in a previous life!

I am an assistant manager at a Grocery store and I've had people follow me in and ask if I wanted to sell it. I have thought about trying to and getting a newer model but I always think of the time I've spent making mine fit me and cant get rid of her.

The day I drove the truck home from the lot (In 2001) I got a thumbs up on the freeway from a good looking girl.
About a week later I had a girl stop me in the parking lot of a gas station and ask me about my truck and tell me she really liked it.
Now that my girlfriend is with me most of the time I don't get that anymore.
