cold start injector?
i remember reading about a few posts/threads that had info about what a cold start injector is/does and i searched but came up with nothing..... anyways my truck seems to start sometimes on its own, but every once in a while it wont start up unless i give it some gas... it is a 94 22re automatic... people told me they think its the cold start injector since battery/starter etc is fine.... what do u guys think>? is this something i can change/install myself? how do i know its bad can i check it? and what kinda cost am i looking at? any help would be appreciated - steve

I don't have any answers for you but would love to hear some replys. I have an 86 22re that is hard as hell to start when it is cold. When it is warm it starts right up.

called today, dealer quoted me 140$ for the injector, and 140$ for the TTS, dunno which one isnt working properly, but doesnt make a difference in price anyways... they also want 80$ labor to install...

thanks - i think once i get some $ im just gonna end up taking it to the dealer and let them look.... cause they charge 78$ just to find out the problem but once u replace it that cost goes towards the parts/labor... other places like firestone still charge u that 80$..... so if its the injector bad and labor, thats about 220$, kinda sucks but if i gotta do it then

I have an 87 pickup.. Pretty easy to start in the cold mornings.. I know for the older trucks like mine that have carbs if you look in the manual it says pump gas twice to set idle and start things.. then crank.. starts right up everytime on cold mornings.. let it run 10 secs and rev to lower idle and you are set... Works for me
