coil/shock cobo. will it work?

I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out what way I want to go to lift my 96 runner. $$ is a huge factor. I would love to go with better shocks, but...

This is what I'm going with (I think). All but the TRD springs from Toytec Lifts.

REAR: OME 891 coils with NGTR-4R (ES3000) pro comp shocks...

FRONT: TRD Tundra coils with GU3535 Tokico shocks...

My question is, The Tokico shocks say not to use them with OME springs. But what about the TRD springs. Does anybody have experience with this combination? Will it work ok?

Thanks...

How much are pro comp and the Tokico shocks? You can get Bilstein 5100's for $150/pr at wheeler's. That's pretty cheap. You don't want to skimp on the suspension. If you don't have the funds right now, save up for when you can. Also, realize that you'll have little doo-dad's you'll need to replace along with the lift, such as possibly a diff drop, extended brake lines, etc.

Here is some good info:

I've been running Tokico shocks with the TRD Tundra coils for about a year with no problems. I don't have the part # for my shocks but they are probably the same ones you are contemplating (they're green).

I run the 891s and unless you carry 300 lbs or more in the back of your Runner on a normal and routine basis I would not recommend them.

Many, many folks here and over on T4R.org are quite comfortable running the 890s in the rear.

for lift questions read and read and read some more.

Compare notes frequently with those you see running the combos you want-if you don't see anyone else running the combo you want to buy there is probably good reason.

sonoran steel is a great place to start-read their FAQ section of the 96-02 Runners. Do their kits cost more ? Why yes they do-however I have yet to read a post of someone disliking their choice.

Cackalack is once again right on the money-a few dollars saved on shocks is going to leave you with some regrets sooner or later.

Bilsteins are lifetime warranty.

You may do just fine with 99 tall springs, and yes you can still get them new and never used.

Tundra coils up front is the way a lot of folks have swung so I do think your choice there is fine.

Give us a bit more info what kind of height are you hoping to achieve? What types of off roading do you do or is this mainly just for looks? Do you need/want a perfectly level body when you are done or do you like rake-with the butt up in the air a bit?

keep an eye on the classifieds... Between here and craigslist, I got all the stuff for my lift for under $300 (do the install yourself, its easy). The shocks were brand new and the springs were very slightly used. I really feel the trekkmasters are a good fit for a slight lift, and the 890s out back are perfect for me and very solid offroad. Its good to save as much as you can on parts, because you will need new endlinks before too long, and thats going to run you a few hundred.
