Code 52 94 4Runner runs great

Hey toyota buffs:
My 94 4Runner runs fine doing 70 mph at 3100 rpms in 5th gear. Please explain. Somewhere on the forum I read that it will run like a dog when the check engine light is on. Go firgure! Please explain the controversy. In my experience it runs terrific. What am I missing?

That's a knoick sensor code. If the pigtail is shorting it will run like a dog. Try removing a battery cable for like 30 seconds to clear that code then see if it happens again.

Code 52 Reset, Check engine light returns above 2000rpm

The code 52 returns. I know it's the knock sensor code, but my question is, the vehicle seems to be accelerating fine and has normal power to me. I know the 3.0 isn't a race car. Could it be that the wire isn't shorting out and maybe the connection under the throttle body is dirty instead? Maybe I'm missing something but it isn't cutting out or hesitating during the 400 miles I've been driiving it after the head gasket repair.

I guess another way of stating the question is can anybody explain a way for the vehicle to run fine with a code 52 being caused by something other than a short in the wire?
