well as im sure most of you know, my truck used to be 2WD and because of that my truck never came with a clutch start cancel. so i was wondering what it would take for me to install one. ive felt the need many times off road to use it, but never had the ability to do so.
what can i expect to pay and look for in order to do something like this?

Do you have to press in the clutch to start it in gear?

If so, you can simply add another switch to bypass the lock-out switch......

 

yes, it has to be depressed whether in gear or not.

any insight on how to locate the lock out switch?

my truck is 2 wheel drive and i can start my truck in gear, regardless of the clutch being in or out...

 

i believe Toyota started the clutch start cancel button in 86, maybe some 85's with fuel injection, my '84 runner does not have one, i don't have to push in the clutch to start it

 

my 94 u just pop into N and push the clutch cancel button and turn it over, works fine. it being a stick, you try it in gear and it jumps.

 

it should be down by the clutch pedal, it should look something like a brake light switch, shouldn't be too hard to bypass, depending if its a push or pull type switch you could just put a piece of tape over it to hold it in, allowing you to start it no mater where the pedal is at

i dont mean too look like an idiot but how does the clutch start cancel help you offroad, i 4-wheel alot and rarly use it, the most i use mine is cranking my truck up before i go to school in the mornings

 

04tacoma4x4, there are some situations where it is more difficult to traveerse if you must push the clutch in with the left foot, and modualte the brake and gas with the right... in some scary situations, its easier to press on the brake with the left foot and power through with the right... to some this method seems pointelss, but to the wheelers that know what im talking about, it helps....

 

ok, i gotcha, so you mean like have the truck in gear and and use the clutch start button so that you dont roll back and it will creep forward?

ok, i looked through the repair manual book and there is one page devoted to troubleshooting faulty clutch cancel buttons. do you want that?

i can tell you from experience that the CCB is a cutout sized button with a plug harness. have you located one?
