clutch problems
my 99 tacoma has problems with the 1-2 shift, unless you hold the clutch in longer than normal it will grind.is this a gear oil problem(changed 32000 mi's ago)or clutch.there is no evidence of slipping.the truck is a 4cyl 4x4 with 126000 mi's.

Well, sounds like your synchros are not working right. Either you're not getting the cluch all the way in or else the synchro's are shot from bad shifting over it's life. I guess theoretically a shift fork could be bent... but not likely at all. Where is the clutch grabbing? Right off hte floor or more toward the end (top) of the travel area? If it's grabbing right at the floor, you might try bleeding it, or adjusting the linkage if that's possible to get it to engage more midway than right down by the floor. How many miles do you have on it and how long has this been a problem?
