Climate Control Went Haywire
The buttons of the climate control unit on the dashboard of my 2000 4Runner went haywire on me. Most of the time I can't turn anything on at will. And when I did, I can't change or even shut the darn thing off most of the time.
I thought I saw another person have the same problem, also on a 2000 model. Is this something particular to the 2000 model year? How can I fix it on my own and avoid the heartburn caused by some unfathomable $500+ bill from the dealership?

I know this may sound pointless. But have you tried remiving the climate control and checking for wires and unplugging/replugging and cleaning stuff out with contact cleaner? its a 30min job and you never know. Eliminate the easy stuff, and you may see the problem.

Hadn't tried removing and cleaning.
Hadn't tried removing and cleaning. Sounds like good advice, as with all things computer driven, the unplugging and plugging might do the trick. Thanks for the suggestion. Will let you know how it turns out.
