cleaning top of cylinder block b4 head install
hey all,
im about to put the head back on my 86 runner and i got to doing some light cleaning on it before i put it on. i might have gotten a little dirt in the small holes in the block (not cylinders, those were covered) that flow oil throughout the head and block (oil tracks i guess they could be). now i am scared that if i start my rig after everything is all said and done (new oil and filter of course) that i will severely score the cyl. walls.
so is there any type of flushing of the entire block (with out taking everything off and the block out) that i can do?
or should i try to let the oil filter do its duty and change it out after say 1 half hour or running?

Go to checkers, autozone, etc. They have an engine flush that you put into your oil thats supposed to clean everything out. I used it and it seemed to work.

Is the block in your rig? if so and you took off the top end only you could pressurize the oil system to push out the debri from the oil rails. I'd recommend trying to get as much out as possible, since those feed directly to your head and if you plug one of your camshaft oil holes you could do some damage.

at most the debris is dust from the head i dont think any chunks large enough to clog any ports got anywhere.
so where do i go to learn about pressurizing and where i can get it done at?
or should i put everything back together and drive it immediatly down to the nearest auto mechanic hoping and praying that no damage is done?
