Good grief... looks like a lint trap... what did you have maling a nest in there a mouse?... while you're cleaning out the fan it is also a good opportunity to clean out the duct work too... there is some dust release stuff you can put on a rag and wipe araound what you can get to, maybe use a flexible snake thing and get in the rest. there is some anti-mould a/c freshener stuff you can get that will help it smell better too.

 

there are three phillips scres and a harness to unplug. Couldn't be easier.

It's all the way over on the passenger side under the glove box

the write up seems to make it more difficult then it really is. I iddn't need to remove the glove box and got to the screws no problem.

I agree with Runner, I didn't have to remove my glove box either. it's pretty darn easy to do.

 

x2 on the 2nd gen question, just realized this is for a 3rd gen, is there a similar procedure for cleaning 2nd gen fans, same location, same procedure? thnx!

I think it's the same for the Taco. Really easy, it's just the screw that's the farthest forward that is really difficult... I should've cleaned the ducts, totally spaced that. I'm not going in there again! I need my shots after that job!

 

Yeah its basically in the same place/same proceedure. It is easier to get at with the glovebox out though IMO... you can see what you're working on.

 

yep yep.. most cars are like that.. i took the cabin filter out of my girl's 05 corolla and man was it bad. it was almost pitch black and we dont smoke.. i think the fans need to be cleaned about once a year.. my brother's 96 chevy had a rats nest in his.. atleast thats what it looked like
