Chevy 305 Conversion
O.k...I've got a Chevy 305 that came out of a 79 station wagon sitting in my garage..I bought it to through in my 89 4Runner...I had bought all the conversion parts but never picked them up...Because I heard that I would have to do alot of frame reinforcing...not only that but I've heard horror stories of the stock tranny and transfer not holding up to the dramatic increase in hp and torque from a 4 banger to the 305....also I've heard that the rear end wouldn't hold up long to it either....any views?

Stock Toyota running gear will work. From the two I have seen one was a 350 and other a 327 they had stock rear ends but the trannies were not. Also with Yota running gear you will get down the road and that's just about it. First time you lit up the tires and caught some traction or did some hard wheeling you would almost certainly break something. My cousin had his 88 PU for a year and he drove it pretty hard just not that hard.. does this make any sense or am I babbling? Long story short it would work but probably not a good permanent set up.
