Check Engine Lite
Well my check engine came on today and when i looked under the hood the engine was still there, but i did notice that the idle was running high.i reved the engine a little but it staied the same
idle.Went thru my hanes manual and found some possible problems that could cause this. When i started the truck a few hours later the idle speed was fine and the check engine lite was off.I did'nt get a chance to check the trouble codes yet big t-storm was coming.Any input on this matter would be helpful.
Thanx

check engine
I checked my engine when the light came on and it was still there too so I figured "job done!"
Mine comes on sometimes when I'm on the highway (always highway) and the rpm are above about 3500 for a while. I pulled my fuse to re-set my 'puter and it goes away for a few weeks. I haven't had a chance to diagnose either but I suggest maybe wait a bit to see if it comes back on. could be loose sensors etc... and it might be an anomoly.
I'm no expert by far, but if it comes back on you should definitely check it out further.

Get OBDII scan tools. It might be very simple problem or it could be very serious one (but it rarely happens for our runners...^^.
If it is possible, get Toyota OBDII scan tools, that tells a lot about your car.
Anyways, hook up OBDII scan tools, then, that, I believe is the point you should start from...
My 97 SR5 4WD engine light came on last summer. Then, I found that it was O2 sensor by scan tool. I bought $200 o2 sensor to replace it, then, it disappeared after I put the very premium gas.... well... I couldn't return it because it was special order item......
Seems like mine is very sensitive to gas quality. Thus, it might be the very similar problem....

The check engine came on againg while driving so i got the truck home as quickly as possible.well i check my codes from the computer and i got a #52 meaning its a Knock Sensor. Now i just have to find out where its at and how to replace it.

It's hidden....Your knock sensor for the 3.0 might be located under the intake manifold. You may want to check your repair manual to make sure. But, I know the knock sensor for the 3.4's are located there. Good luck!
