Cheapest effective fix for sagging rear on 99 Runner
I searched, but still not convinced on best solution....I thought i had the "magic" coils, but my rear is sagging after 175K...what should i do, add spacer, or spring for some new coils (pun intended )
I was considering the PP 1", but want to be sure...cheaper is better, but not the only factor. I want a good inch or so, so that when i tow the bumper dosen't seem to drag....
Thanks!
Kyle

Napa/Gabriel AirShocks will let you run up to 250psi and believe me you can run with enough pressure to get 2-3" of lift when pretty heavily loaded. If course too much pressure will mess with front camber a bit so be carefull.
Last time I bought was about the same as the airlift bags. Figure about $75 complete. Longest part of install is removal of old worn out units. Just take a dremel with a real cutting wheel and zip the sucker off directly below the bushing at the top of the rod, under where it goes through the frame.
Good shock for the money - easily got 50k miles from them towing heavy loads for a goodly portion of it.

Wait a minute, wasn't there a factory recall on the rear 4Runner springs? Might be worth looking into, at least to keep things level on the cheap. My '97 got new ones in back off the same soggy-ass 4Runner recall. It was more of a service bulletin, I believe, so you have to insist on it...
STICK new springs in it
