Cheap Tachometer for the 82

I have no tach for the 82. I would like to know that the engine is up to. So, best/cheapest place to get a tach?

at autozone you can get a autolite w/shift light for $100 or you can get a small one for about $65

Go to the junkyard and find yourself an 82 w/ an instrument assembly that includes a tach. Purchase it and install it in your truck.

Or get yourself some of those cool A-Pillar Guage pods and put all sorts of cool things in them: A Clock! A Thermometer! Your Tach! A "Boost" Guage (dont forget to hook it up to your vacuum lines)! Id stay away from the big, gaudy Autometer tach, just because it looks too ricey for me. And you would have to mount it in the center of your dash, so it wouldnt hamper your view...its a tight squeeze to get it in between the guage cluster and the A-Pillar, but thats only my $0.03 (adjusted for inflation).

i'd just go with the sr5 gauge cluster....shouldn't be too hard to find in an '82-83 truck('79-81 can work as well, but you need to change the type of plug and do a bunch of splicing, so i wouldn't recommend it)
