cheap ok lift

hey, my friend has a 1998 2wd 4runner and he wants to fit 32's on. I am pretty sure that you cant fit them at stock height, so he will need a cheap but ok lift. I have done some research and these are the options I have come up with. He could get 1 or 2'' roger brown body lift, cornfed spacers, or revtek spacers. Even though all he off-roads in is mud, he wants to retain or get better flex. Don't tell me to use the flashing search button, because I already have, and all I am just looking for some opinions on what he should get. Also, here is a pict of his 2runner. Thanks!

I know I can fit 32's stock on my '95 but I'm not sure about a 3rd gen...I would go with either a 1 or 2" Roger Brown BL but if he goes with a 2 or maybe even a one...32's are going to look kinda small under there.

What do all you 3rd genners reccommend?

he could just crank his torsion bars and then get some spacers for the rear. that's all i did but i used add a leafs b/c i have a first gen. by the way. you friends got some balls to be takin a 2wd runner through some stuff like that. Looks like he likes to play in the mud and if i were him i'd just trade it in and save up a lil and get a 4wd toyota of some sort. Just had a thought. The 2wd clearence might need a lil more than what i did to fit them. Sorry if i didn't help much.

By saying 32's you mean 265x75 16's they will fit with no lift, no rubbing. I ran them for a year.

265-75-16's will fit with no lift. In order to fit 33's you will need a full 2" of lift. You will probalby have to do some fender pounding also.

cool, thanks for you help! I talked to him, and he said maybe he will just go with the 33's which would really look cool. Body lift sounds kinda difficult for us, but I know how to work with springs and struts, so maybe we should go with coil spacers. THanks again!

I have been running the front daystar 2.5" spacer for about 10k miles, no problems (I got about 2" of lift) you can get the front and rear for about $250 Wheelers

Brian, WaskillyWabit has a write-up on his website for the body lift. it's not that difficult.

Another option is to switch out the stock 2wd coils for somebody's (used, check the for sale section) stock 4wd coils. This will firm up the ride a tiny bit and should give about one inch of lift. I know at least one other member here did this in combiniation with spacers and can fit 33's on his 2wd. I think his user name is Nolan.

Edit: Here's Nolan's thread about lifting his 2wd.

Well, they only have about 5-10k miles on them. They are the replacement ones that toyota slapped on for the rear suspension recall. I'm not sure if they are softer but maybe somebody can chime in a clear that up. if they are the springs you want then PM me and we can work somthing cheap out.

Question ? about this...

Not to highjack your thread but would this be a possibility for the rear coils only?
I ask this because I swear that my 99 2wd sags in the rear. It might not be as bad as the 2nd gen sag (hoping to cure this soon) but I swear it sags.
Granted, I tow a small alluminum fishing boat on occasion and have put some suitcases in the back before also. But I swear, dead empty wish a dry gas tank it has the sag.
So, could i just change the rear coils w/ somebody's 4wd rear coils (no adverse affects)?

If "me llamo pound" doesn't want mine you can buy them.

anybody know if this guy replaces the springs with the 4x4 springs, does he need to replace both front and rear and use spacers or does he just need the rear springs from a 4x4 and spacers for both front and rear? Reason is that I have both front and back I can sell and he's asked me if he needs both, and of course I've never investigate this course of action so I can't say for sure.

Thanks.
