Charging/electrical problem.
I am having a problem on a 1990 4Runner 4x4 22RE.Whhere the Parking brake light and Battery light comes on, doesn't always stay on, sometimes it just flickers. I have checked everything. and can't figure it out for the life of me. It ran fine all night in the snow and what not and then I got it about half way home and this stuff started up. I have been trying everything. I can't really honestly think its the alternator because when I do get the truck running it runs great and everything works and then it kinda just bugs out on me doing this after 15 minutes or so of driving.
The real kicker is when the truck is off I can run just about anything, (I have two big spots, as well as fogs) and they all work fine when it is off. But once it runs for a bit they don't work worth junk. and I run into the problem stated above.
any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

First thing I'd do is check the output on the alternator. Alternators usually fail slowly, giving a rash of electrical problems since most electronic gear work best in a narrow voltage range.

Well, I'm supposed to be having the Alternator tested tomorrow,we'll see how that goes. The thing that really bugs me is that it runs for 30-40 minutes at a time no problems then I begin to lose power. Could this resemble a battery problem? I have checked all my grounds and unhooked my Hella500's and my fogs, to see if they might be causing it, but no such luck.
Anymore Ideas?

Just changing the brushes usually does the trick. 13 or so bucks and a coupl minutesd to change them. I did mine on the side of the highway in ten minutes. works like new again.
