Changing the 2 tone, new black/tan

After a year or so of the graphite/black scheme it is time to do a refinish. I've decided to go army tan this time around, all including to be painted are snorkel, rockers, roof rack and rear bumper. Taking the day to do this so I'll update here and there if I come back in. If we are done soon enough we will be painting the cruiser wheels black today as well. Here are a couple teaser cell phone shots of the rack and snorkel head. I've got an image of what it'll look like in my head, cross your fingers the end result is just as pleasing haha

yeah yours looks good chris i was looking at those pics last night. i've wanted this color scheme since my first lift went on, i was happy to see you beat me to the punch.

the snorkel head is done with its second coat and after abrasion tests its holding up great, a few imperfections from the plastic being messed up, that head has been beat pretty bad the last year and a half. just got done sealing her down, finishing sanding the last coat and we'll be off. should be done in about 2 hours

i'm thinking of doing the wheels tan instead of flat black, i have until i'm done with everything else to decide, let me know what you think

x2. Although you might not want that much new paint on the bumper...

Maybe the wheels too. Might want to do it on photoshop first and see how it looks though.

i am contemplating it, but will end up having it powder coated to match if i decide to. for now i like the black. i will end up painting the tail light guards, the license plate surround, emblems and the outlet lattice on the snorkel within the next week if i have the time

I don't really understand the whole black/tan concept, but if you dig it, right on! Some awesome during shots too

rear spoiler is being contemplated. i have my roomate playing a form of devil's advocate and implementing newton's law, for every reaction i have to an idea he has an equal opposing reaction. this is the reason the wheels are black instead of tan haha. but yesterday i got pretty stoked on the idea of getting the spoiler tan, he did a pretty good job of convincing me black was the way to keep her. once i do the tail light guards and license surround i'll see if that's really hindering the scheme, but until them all opinions are welcome

its crazy too, out of 50 or so opinions i've heard almost all of them have at least something to do with painting the arb to match. guess i have to start looking for powder coaters

Another idea - Paint about 80% of the arb tan and leave the remainder of it black. May help the bumper blend better w/ the overall look of the vehicle if some of it is left black. Just a thought.

I'd suggest painting the door handles too...but that may be a bit overkill.

Looking at your wheels again, I probably would not paint them either. However, you could add some tan accents. Maybe paint the center caps tan or something. Too bad you don't have beadlocks...you could paint the ring itself tan.

the arb is staying black for a while, i don't want to ruin its purdiness from the powder coat. once you wax it the black turns almost color matched to the car, its going to be hard to pull me away from that, so i'll have to wait until i get the funds/time to get it powdercoated if i ever decide to.

haha and ian you forgot about the rest of the car, blacks still pretty easy to see in the dunes. i may be out in del mar with her this summer

edit: apparently i sold this town out of the paint i was using, have to wait till thursday to finish the rest
