Changed Valve Covers, now have a short.

I spent last night/ today doing my valve cover gaskets, and I meticulously recorded everything so as not to have issues after.

Now, the runner is shorting out on ignition somewhere. It was shorting out after I would only turn the key to the accesories setting, but I noticed I missed the Diagnostic box ground, so bolted it, and got to the starting short.

Any one have any ideas of anything? I believe it is electrical, but anything else it can be?

Just what fuse is open?/

Then maybe you just have wires that have melted.

A short is a path to ground that should not be there.

Fix the problem replace the circuit protection .

You should be good to go.

Please. Exactly what are the symptoms of the short (which fuse blown, any noise) and exactly when does it occur (key to ignition on, or key to start position)?

I can't guess at a solution when I first have to guess at the problem.

It is not a fuse, I have gone through them.

When I turn the key fully to accessory, just before ignition, the dash lights up, as regularly, then from the back right area of the engine compartment I hear three audible clicks followed by a half second motor run sound, which in every other car Ive had is the oil pump getting things going for ignition.

When I turn the key to ignite, I get a very short sound like the car is trying to start, then everything goes out and I have to unhook the battery leads to reset. Ill research posting a video.

Did the plstic wire loom casing have anything to do with ground? It just disintegrated to the touch, literally. I hooked up a vacuum cleaner and had the nozzle near my hand to suck up debris; the plastic was basically non existant before I even got to the valves.

Video wont load, missing a certificate or some thing. Anyway after the ignition short, I hit the highbeam handle by accident and there is clicking sounds as I use the different settings down where the headlights are. Now I am confused because that means the power is still there, just not doing anything

Break out your Multi meter .

Take some readings

Do you understand just what a electrical short is??

Is your battery Charged to full via a battery charger??

It would appear you have a low voltage issue from what it can be any number of things.

Bad battery terminals dirty or loose ??

A poor ground or grounds ??

Fuse loose in the socket??

Is it possible you left something unhooked ??

Try a different battery and see if it starts.

The problem is fixed, after an expensive trip to the stealer's. The issue was...nothing! They called after an hour and said it started just fine, everything is perfect, nothing wrong! Still charged me full price though. So yeah, thanks for the help, but all she needed was a tow to knock something in/out of place.

Ha, really nothing? Why that nerdy truck! Glad to hear the price might've been lots but was limited....imagine if they had to dig! Did you at least have a tow plan on your insurance?
