The guy from toytec said to take a picture of before and after and ill notice the difference as well... I mean I dont think it would be bad to have anyways so im just gunna buy it but Ill be fabbing the bumper within the next couple weeks to add the weight and relax em a bit... thats why im wondering about the thickness of the plate and mounts and I dont have a winch yet but am going to build a slot for one but im not sure how big of a space to leave...

The Diff drop will help your CV angles. If you get a 1" Diff Drop then it'll lower the angle by 1". On another note, your Truck is basically exactly like mine. Except mine had chrome bumpers. When you fab a bumper make it out of 3/16"in steel. Truck looks great.

If you want weight and strength then do it in 1/4" plate I did mine out of it and it weights like 150 lbs then throw on an extra 80lbs in winch and you will get your weight to level your cv's. You should also look into manual hubs so you can unlock them and not worry about them turning until you need them too.

one96t4r can you post some pics of your truck I cant totally tell but your bumper looks similar to what i want to have fabbed up my only dilemma is I wanted to make a reciever type winch mount but dont know if it will be too big to keep inside the bumper... and how do the manual hubs work what does it help if you can explain please???

I am going to order a smittybilt winch and build the bumper so it takes the stress off the CV's... Then I should be good to go correct??? The 883's came with a spacer with 6 bolts should I not install this??? I dont understand how the locking hubs will help or what it will do???

i stand corrected in post #12 above. It's the 882 coils that provide 3" of lift without spacers. maybe someone can chime in on how much lift does 883 coils give. the 10 mm thk spacers will provide an additional 1/2" of lift. how much lift do you need? for 33" (LT285/75R16) tires, you only need 3" of lift (some get lucky with 2.5"). bigger tires will require more lift.

3" would be about the maximum lift that you would want to avoid constantly tearing your cv boots especially since you're using the long travel OME N91 shocks. those long travel shocks will tend to overextend the CVs causing the boots to tear prematurely and the CVs won't last that long.

the manual locking hubs will help reduce/eliminate stress from the CVs while you're on the street in 2WD by allowing the hubs to spin freely. without the manual locking hubs, the CVs spin with the tires because the hubs are permanently locked even in 2WD. manual locking hubs will also help save fuel a bit if you're mostly in 2WD because less parts are rotating.

according to this site below, the ome 883 coils are for the FJ Cruiser, 05-09 Tacomas, and 4th Gen 4Runners. Therefore these coils are not applicable to the 1998 3rd gen 4Runner. you need to return them to toytec...

They are also compatible with 3rd gen 4 runners it says... in there... Im just going to run 33's but im running the Lexus coils in the rear... I mean it seems like everyone is running 3 of lift it kind of pisses me off to hear that I will constantly be tearing CV's Then whats the whole point might as well have not started to mod it...

hahaha, i have a very similar set up to what you are going to put on. I've got 882's up front and fj80 coils out back. My cv's have not blown up yet...but, i haven't had a chance to really take it offroad other then some light trail stuff. I'm eventually going to get some limiting straps added to the front to keep them from over extending. Fron what i've read, the 883's are less prone then the 882's at ripping cv boots.

I never said you'll be tearing cv boots with a 3" lift..it's the max lift to AVOID tearing the boots...please reread my post

Not so sure about the 883s..better get the proven 882s

OME coils

Select coils from options- All coils are sold in pairs

-883 --- Front Coil Springs.

Used alone as leveling coils (approx. 1 1/2") for 07-09 FJ Cruiser, 05-09 Tacoma, & 03-09 4-Runner.

Also sold as heavy duty coils for 95.5-04 Tacoma & 96-02 4-Runner.

---884--- 2" lift standard coils - add top plate spacers for full 3" lift

---885--- Medium 2" lift coils for 110 lbs additional front weight

----886--- Heavy 2" lift coils for 200+ front weight (Order below on page seperately-- No top plate spacer needed--

We recommend N140S OME shocks sold seperately with 885 and 886 coils.

So they are used as heavy duty coils on my year of runner... so limiting straps anyone made those here if so what exactly does it do im interested in maybe doing this...
