can't do an alignment?!
So I purchased and installed a Daystar spacer lift on my 1996 Toyota 4Runner and ready to get the alignment only to find out the Toyota Dealer can't do an alignment. When I purchased the product from 4Wheel Parts they said anyone could do the alignment, what they heck!!
Anyone ever had this issue?

Perhaps they are saying they can't get it within factory specs. Which is to be expected with a spacer lift. Bring it somewhere else. As long as they can get the camber/caster reasonably close and set the toe properly it will drive fine.

Alot of dealerships won't touch spacer lifted trucks. The dealership I work for always warns people ahead of time that we'll get it as close as possible, but probably won't get it completely to spec. Daystars are extremely hard to get close, because of how extreme the lift is. Daystar has always set out to get the maximum amount of lift out of the front. I've seen a lot that tear up cv axles, have upper ball joints making contact with the springs, and stretching ABS wiring and brake lines. I'm really not a fan at all of them.

I about to chalk this one up as a lesson learned and trash this Daystar lift kit and get something else. It's been nothing but a PITA, and now if I'm going to have other issues. Now I'm thinking I need longer shocks because of the bottoming out I think I'm feeling. What's a better lift system for this 1996 Toyota 4Runner SR5, 4WD without breaking the bank? I can do all the install myself.

So I took the truck in this morning to the dealer and about lunch time got the call telling me they can't do an alignment. Then at 4:00 I get a call telling me they got the alignment done. What tha!!?? Said the tech worked on it and was able to get it done. Speechless. Well, whatever, it's aligned and now this rig is back on the road. Now on to the next project...

That's exactly what I'm sayin swimmer. At my dealer, we'll at least try. We get it as close as we can. We let them know that we at least got it close. Surprisingly we get people who are mad over that, askin why we were charging them for getting it "close" lol

It's funny, because I had called another dealer just to see what there response was when I told them I needed an alignment on a 1996 4Runner with a lift kit and he immediatly said he would not do it, that if he can't get it to Factory specs they don't work on it.
