Camshaft/rocker arm question...
im going to be putting an aftermarket camshaft in my truck and along with 2 new rocker arms...now heres the question, since im putting a aftermarket camshaft in there do i time this to the stock setting or to a new one or does it matter?

you forgot to say some stuff--
what engine???? what year, what camshaft. and by the way, if its a 22re, mark the distriutor before you remove it so that you dont skip a tooth when you put it back in. oh, and the timing remains stock for best gas mileage--advance it slightly for a little more power.

If you are asking whether or not the stock valve clearance is retained with an aftermarket cam, then the answer is no. The supplier of the cam or regrind should supply the new tappet clearances with a cold engine at TDC.

I think you are talking about distributor advance / retard, correct?
I would set it to stock unless you want to run premium gas.
For a little more power, advance it a degree or two as suggested.
