Calling all VORTEX users...
I think the Vortex has the best sound, hands down. (Though I haven't heard one in person).
I've searched this site and have been reading for over an hour. Every time the few people that have a vortex chime in, they are pretty much ignored.
Now that I know I like the sound, I'm concerned about performance. Specifically lowend torque. Please, those of you that have been running a vortex, give us some idea of your seat-o-pants-o-meter. Unless, of course, you have actual dyno data. (that would be nice...).
AND, those of you that don't like Vortex, please explain why.
Thanks!
Mike

Vortex TB spacer?
Vortech Supercharger?
TB spacers WORK on a carbeurated engine well - where the gas is already mixed with the air before it enters the TB spacer. On an EFI a TB spacer is useless.... This has been dyno proven as well....
A vortech supercharger? hell yes it works! lol

Yeah hes talking about the mufflers. Jason B. would be the one to talk to about that, send him a PM or go on his website www.burtmandindustries.com and find the link to this personal page, there's tons of them all over his page.

Is the Vortex muffler a glasspack? Just curious. I'm now looking at the aero turbine with a resonator. Very impressive from what I've seen, heard, and read. I've pretty much made up my mind on an aero.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have a Vortex muffler on my '96, no loss of low end torque. Sounds terrific, especially right off idle. No rust, high quality. Nice growl without being too loud. More info here:

I'm not too sure about reliability but the sound is awesome! Best sounding one that I've heard on a 3rd gen by far!
I'll be sure to report back about the reliability and all that.
I didn't notice any kind of power loss at all, if anything it seems a bit more torquey.

The "vortex" is a "Vortex Cherry Bomb" muffler, made by Maremont, same company that makes Purolator, Gabriel, etc. No, its not a "cherry bomb" $20 muffler you buy at pep boys, and, no, it's not a "cherry bomb" glasspack muffler.

I had them on both my 96 and my 88, and I did notice that the trucks revved a little better and had more power about mid range.
I've had the muffler on my 96 for about 4 years or more, and my 88 for 2, none of them have problems.

You WILL get more highway passing power with this vortex. Does it make a HUGE difference, no, but it's noticeable. And every little bit is needed on the 3.4 and lower engines. What is really noticeable? A HUGE difference in sound.
Ok, the demand on this forced me add to the site.
