in c&d's july 05 issue (also their 50th anniv. issue), they have on page 217 a list of the best and worst 0-60 times by year...
1990's worst? Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 with a time of 15.7 seconds!

Because stock they weight about 4300lbs. Mine checks in at over 4900 (soundsystem) Yet for me 0-60 is 13.8 when the temps are low and humidity is relatively low (florida LOL)
'90 sr5 v6, FIPK, ported intake manifold, 2.25" cat back, turbo muff, and Carsound cat. Sorry but my minimal amount of bolt ons will NOT make THAT big of a difference. Maybe they tested them up in colorado or something....
Reminds me of the test some magazine did: SRT10 vs Rousche Stage III F150 vs XRunner vs SSR Chevy. The fastest one on the 1/4 mile was the SRT10 (duh) but guess what the time was? 14.0 flat!! Either they are freakin testing up in colorado or over 8000' in altitude or they can't drive to save their lives...

Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to have a 3.0 that screamed? Did the article mention if it was an auto or 5 spd. manual? My '90 manual was quicker than the equivalent '90 auto in a race (my buddy and I "trotted" each other. To say we "ran" each would other be a stretch).

4mydogs:
"I still can't get over all the time wasted on rants about on road speed and acceleration. I bought my Runner because it was a "truck-based SUV" and a true off-road performer, not some 4WD-slapped on a car chassis and lifted off-road wannabe. In fact, the way the SUV market has become has made me drive my 2nd gen with a smug satisfaction that I have the real thing, not some compromise made for the mass market."
i second that sentiment. cheers!

I too grow tired of hearing all the bad things about the 3.slow. Acceleration doesn't matter in a vehicle like this. When offroading I'm not trying to see how fast I can get up to 60 (maybe that's what jeep guys do... what with their... HEMIs with "Faster acceleration than an Audi or BMW"... hahahaha ). C & D can lick my ball joints.
