C.B.I. Gen 3 4Runner REAR BUMPER Build
#61
It looks close, but I can't quite tell for sure from your pics, but do the side-wings' width (as in how much they stick out past the body) match the width of the limited style flares? This is my main issue with most rear bumpers out there right now is that they don't match the width of the limited style flares. I personally like my flares and would prefer the slight bit of extra width for protection. And I think it looks better.
P.S. Sweet maple leaf cut-outs.

I knew someone will mention that personal touch and like it...
One of the benefits of this bumper as it sticks to the truck like it rolled out from the factory like that. YES, it match Limited style fenders ideally in width. I like limited flares too and I need them to cover bigger tires, so for trail protection of those flares was crutial point.

Would you be able to send me close-up pics of the corners? where the side plates and the main bumper body meet.
Annnd..... If at all possible I would like to see a better shot of the side plates dead-on. I am trying to figure out if the bend in the side plate is angled or straight across..not sure if that makes sense..

Call CBI, ask for Steve, he used to have 2nd Gen, I'm not sure if he still has it. He'll build you one.
Brant is a great guy to talk to and he'll guide you through the process, but for technical issues you need to talk to Steve directly.
Tell him, Alex reffered you, he will understand...

Trying to cut down on the "primetime" cellphone minutes so ill shoot an email. I went to their website and looked around, and didn't see any 2nd gens in the gallery. At the same time though it says right on their website that they will fab anything so thanks again for the referral, i have been wanting to do a bumper for a while now, but i don't like the ARB rear. Ill let ya know what the verdict is when i hear back.

So I finally finished my knock-off bumper.
It ended up costing $280 after it was all said and done.
I am no expert fabricator, but did the best I could.
I had the bent pieces prepared by a local welding shop, and the rest was cut out with a metal bandsaw and welded up. Lots of grinding involved due to my lack of precision on the bandsaw.

I do plan on adding a swing-away.... but I have some other projects that are more pressing at the moment. Like replacing my stolen stereo!
More to come soon! (the project list for this truck will never end...)
